Description
I used to rely on homemade plywood strips to hold my knives while working in batches, but moving them from the grinder to the workbench was always a hassle. Then I had an idea: why not 3D print something to make my life easier? I shared my idea online, and others expressed interest in having a similar tool!
These 3D-printed blade holders are designed to mount on plywood that is 1/2″ thick or more, with screws protruding about 3/8″ for secure attachment. They can be linked together for larger projects, and I also have 6″ wide pieces for smaller batches. Having versatility in how many knives I am working in is key.
The top hole conveniently holds a Milwaukee Inkzall or Sharpie marker, so the marker moves with the holder. This allows me to easily label the current grit on the knife as I progress, preventing mistakes or missed scratches.
The blade holder features slots to accommodate various blade sizes, with a 0.15″ slot at the bottom and a 0.2″ slot at the top. When working through a batch, I like to flip the knife spine up and spine down so I know exactly where I am working through the knives. This versatile design ensures a perfect fit for your knives up to 0.2″.
