Description
I get asked about how I do my filework on a pretty regular basis. When I did my first filework class at Blade Show University in 2021, I decided to buy some files so the students could get a jumpstart on some of the designs. These are the best files that I have found to do a variety of different patterns and what I use on almost every knife. I have moved to using carbide burrs to put in my Ø 3/16″ and Ø 1/8″ curves now, but frequently use the files to true up a design. I have a YouTube video of me doing the Thorn Filework up on my channel.
These are all Nicholson brand files and I have drilled and mounted the best file handle, a golf ball. No new golf balls were hurt in the making of these! The ball brand / color (most will be white) will be random and all balls have been salvaged from local golf courses from water hazards.
Each filework pattern uses some or all of the files:
- Bubbles
- 7″ X-Slim Taper Triangular File
- Ø 3/16″ Round File
- Ø 1/8″ Round File
- Ø 1/2″ Sanding Band
- Thorn / Celtic / Blocks
- 7″ X-Slim Taper Triangular File
- Ø 3/16″ Round File
- Bats
- Ø 3/16″ Round File
- Ø 1/8″ Round File
