Description
The SL Stone Holder is an attachment designed to make knife blade bevel polishing Suck Less! This tool adapter helps your reciprocating saw hold a mold polishing stone, transforming it into a powerful polisher that significantly reduces the time and effort needed for hand sanding your blades.
Key Features:
- Durable Construction: Made from 3D printed PLA and 304 stainless steel. These parts have been designed to maximize the strength needed for polishing out stray grinding scratches.
- Stone Size: Holds 1/2″ wide stones up to 3/8″ thick, with 1/4″ thick stones working best from my testing.
- Large Stone Holder: Sized for stones that are 1.5″ to 3″ in length. Longer stones have been used in this holder with success. These longer stones have been ones 1/4″ thick.
- Short Stone Holder: Sized for stones that are 0.75″ to 1.5″. Longer 1/4″ thick stones have also been used in this holder too.
- Universal Fit: Designed for smaller compact reciprocating saws but compatible with most standard models. Some saws with longer strokes may require guard removal that usually unscrews or is easily removed.
- Easy Installation: Quick and simple to attach, allowing you to switch between grits with minimal effort. The metal adapter has been sized the same as standard reciprocating saw blades.
- Precision Polishing: Designed to hold mold polishing stones firmly in place, helping to provide consistent scratch patterns during bevel polishing.
- Time-Saving Efficiency: Reduces hand sanding time by efficiently polishing knife blade bevels, enhancing productivity and saving valuable workshop time. Reciprocating saws are around 6000 strokes per minute, much faster than one can do by hand.
Whether you’re a professional knife maker or a hobbyist, the SL Stone Holder is the perfect addition to your toolkit. Achieve smooth, polished bevels that can be quickly sanded with the paper of your choice for a uniform satin blade. Upgrade your knife polishing process with the SL Stone Holder and experience the difference in speed and help hand sanding Suck Less!
Prepping Stones for Use:
Standard mold polishing stones come in 6″ lengths. The SL stone holder has be designed so that the stone can be cut in half for easier use when using tools. For cutting, I have fund the easiest is to use a small chisel and score a line win the middle of the stone and then place the chisel on the line and give a quick tap with a hammer.
