This hand sanding sled has been a culmination hundreds of hours hand sanding knife blades.  While sanding, I always thought “there has to be a better way to hold these knives”.  One day, this design for the clamp popped into my head, and that was it!

What sets this sanding sled apart is its innovative clamp mechanism, made from stainless steel. This unique clamp securely holds your knives in place and allows it to travel along the sled’s length and adjusts to both sides to clamp wherever you need it to.  This versatility is something I have not seen in any other sled on the market.

The sled is now a bolt together design allowing it to not need welding.  These reduced costs are able to be passed along to you the customer. There are 4 screws that hold the plate together and it is extremely robust from my testing and a few other testers I know.

With this bolt together design, I am now offering a DIY kit. You can use your grinder to clean up and smooth all the rough surfaces from the laser cutting. This helps you to further save some money.  All the parts that need to be machined, have been machined.  Only cleanup of sharp edges and assembly is needed.

The front of sled has been kept tapered and you no longer have to grind the metal to match your blade profile.  This helps keep the blade from overhanging the sled, this is much safer then having the blade fully exposed.  Extra HDPE sheets can be purchased to replace different profiles while sanding.  Going from a knife with more of a point to a knife that has more of a flat profile.
